Division It Be
Ancient, the strategy of divide and conquer is. Control by fostering division, leaders through the ages have maintained. Julius Caesar, to Gaul he went. Tribes, he set against each other. Victory through their division, he claimed.
In India, British rule thrived. Hindus and Muslims, divided they were. Deepened animosities, the colonizers did. Through favoritism and policy, mistrust they sowed. A united front, broken it became. Freedom delayed, partitioned the land was.
In America, division served slavery’s cause. Poor whites, against enslaved Blacks, leaders pitted. Blinded to shared suffering, both groups became. The true oppressors, unchallenged they remained.
The Present Divisions
Persistent, the tactic of division remains. Subtle and widespread, its form now is. Technology, its weapon. Through social media, division thrives. Algorithms, they feed on outrage. Echo chambers, they create. Lies, amplified they become. Truth, buried it is.
Immigrants, the scapegoat they are. Blame for stagnation, onto them is placed. True issues of inequity, hidden they remain. The powerful, protected they are. Diverted, the people’s anger becomes. Unity among the oppressed, a threat it is.
Future, Dark It May Be
Unchecked, this path to chaos leads. Into factions, society fractures. Micro-societies, trapped in echo chambers, emerge. Truth, an illusion it becomes. Mistrust, the norm it is.
Technology, the manipulator’s tool it shall be. Deepfakes and data, confusion they sow. Collaboration to face global crises, lost it is. Climate change, pandemics, resource depletion—all ignored. Consumed by infighting, the people are. Collapse, inevitable it becomes.
Hope There Is
Lessons from history, teach they do. Unity, the antidote is. The Civil Rights Movement, unity it forged. Across divisions, coalitions it built. Justice, its focus became.
From war, the European Union rose. Reconciliation and cooperation, its foundation is. Proof, it provides. Even after great division, unity possible it is.
Forward The Path Must Be
Integrity and shared humanity, the way they are. Manipulation, resist it we must. Common challenges, the focus they must be. Fabricated enemies, reject them we must.
Education and media literacy, tools they are. Division’s darkness, they illuminate. Together, fight division we must. Through dialogue, rebuild trust we will. Justice, equity, collaboration—achieved they shall be.

Do or do not. Unity, choose we must. Division’s grip, break we shall. Truth and integrity, the foundation will be. For a brighter future, strive we will. Together, the path forward is. Alone, it is not.
